The following was composed by Richard’s family:

Richard Albrecht of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He was 92 years old. Born on September 26, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard was the son of the late Ernst H. Albrecht and the late Freida Albrecht (née Sommer). Known to family and friends as “Dick,” he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was marked by an insatiable desire for learning, a connection to nature, and a sharp wit.

Richard was the beloved husband of Beverly Albrecht (née Frame). He was a proud father to Amy (Mark), Kurt (Alison), Erin, and Meghan (Kevin) and grandfather to Ava, Amelia, Dagmar, Brigid and Benjamin.

In 1955, Dick enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably until his discharge. His time on the USS Iowa was a lifelong source of pride.

Following his military service, he studied at Trenton State College, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Richard devoted his professional life to education. He worked for many years as a high school guidance counselor at Warren Hills Regional High School in Washington, New Jersey, where he was respected for his compassion, steady guidance, and commitment to helping students find their path. He lived in Califon and Mountain Lake, New Jersey, before eventually settling in the Philadelphia area.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m., followed by a eulogy at 10:20 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Graveside services followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046, with military honors rendered by the United States Navy.

Richard Albrecht will be remembered for his sharp intellect, booming laugh, and lifelong commitment to exercise and fitness. He was an expert gardener, fisherman, cyclist and runner. He valued time in nature and time immersed in reading equally. He was happiest when focused on learning and his mind to body connection kept him youthful throughout his long life. He is missed by all who loved him.

The Albrecht family is grateful for the care provided by Holy Redeemer Hospice, particularly Mark Williamson.
