The following was composed by Muriel’s family:
Muriel J. Stanley, age 94, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026. She was born on March 2, 1931 in Warrington, PA, and lived a full life marked by devotion to family, faith, and community. Muriel was proud to live in the Hatboro/Willow Grove community for all of her life.
Muriel was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband, George K. Stanley, who passed away in 1997, after being married for 46 years. Muriel was born into a loving family of five children and graduated from Upper Moreland High School. She worked as a bank teller and in accounting before starting a family with George.
She is survived by her children, Linda Stanley Fallon, wife of Dennis Fallon, and George Matthew Stanley, husband of Kimberly (Kim) Walsh Stanley. Muriel was the grandmother to Dennis Fallon (wife Bandy Killion), Jesse Fallon (wife Kathleen “Katie” Sallitt Fallon), Elizabeth “Liz” Fallon Wagner (husband Tyler Wagner), Matthew Stanley, and Ethan Stanley. She was also blessed to know the joy of her great-grandchildren, Laurel Joanna Fallon, Cora Sage Fallon, and Stella Rose Fallon.
Muriel was deeply involved in the Warrington Women’s Club where she won Woman of the Year in 2011 and remained an active, devoted member of Calvary Presbyterian Church throughout her life. Volunteer work was deeply important to her, and she generously gave her time as a Sunday School teacher, a Pioneer Girl leader, in the school library, and at Abington Hospital. She also found great joy in the arts, particularly attending performances at the Walnut Street Theatre. Above all, Muriel will be remembered by family and friends for her kindness, her strength of will, and the independence of spirit that guided her life.
To honor Muriel’s life, a Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 405 Easton Road, Willow Grove. Open visitation took place from 9:00–10:00 a.m., followed by a church service at 10:00am. A brief graveside service was held immediately following at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. A luncheon reception followed from 12:30-2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Calvary Presbyterian Church.
While remembrance flowers are welcome, donations in Muriel’s memory may also be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by Wetzel and Son Funeral Home at 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
