Mary Jo Davitt, of North Wales, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Jefferson Abington Hospital. She was 85 years old. Born on July 12, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, Mary Jo was the beloved daughter of the late John A. Davitt and the late Gertrude C. Davitt (née Corbett). She grew up in Warminster and was a proud graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls.

Mary Jo was the devoted and loving mother of Margaret Lutz. She is survived by her dear siblings Alice Rita Davitt, Margaret Broderick, and Daniel Davitt, and was predeceased by her sisters Patricia Davitt and Trudy Palicki, and her brother John L. Davitt. She is also survived by her beloved godson, Daniel J. Davitt Jr., as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In her early years, Mary Jo answered a calling to religious life and faithfully served as a Grey Nun for six years. Throughout her life, she worked in a variety of roles, including as a substitute teacher, switchboard operator, receptionist, and customer service representative. Her professional career included positions with Bell Telephone Company, Honeywell, Xerox, ManpowerGroup, and Prudential Financial.

Mary Jo made her home in communities including Inman Terrace in Willow Grove and Caledonia in Warminster, where she formed lasting friendships . Mary Jo loved classic films and could often be found watching her favorite television shows, including The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie, as well as enjoying programs on HGTV. She preferred shopping the old-fashioned way — in person at the mall — and delighted in browsing flea markets and antiquing. Though she would say she was “not a cook,” she certainly had a sweet tooth and never passed up a good dessert.

Mary Jo especially treasured watching sunsets with her daughter, moments that brought her deep peace and happiness. She enjoyed trips to Lancaster to visit the Amish community and embraced adventure with two memorable trips to India.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., followed by her memorial service at 12:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Missionary Sisters of Charity, 2714 West 9th, Chester, PA 19013.
