The following obituary was written by Janet’s family.

Janet Ann Pregenzer passed peacefully on March 15, 2026, just days before her 90th birthday, leaving behind a lifetime of love she had worked hard to build.

Born in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, Janet was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Miller (née Deitrich). She grew into the kind of woman who made every room run a little smoother — and every heart feel a little more at home.

For 70 years, Janet was the devoted wife of Walter Pregenzer, a partnership built on love and friendship.

Janet’s faith was a steady thread through her whole life, and St. John’s United Methodist Church was her greater family for 60 years. She and Walter were joyfully devoted to the congregation — pitching in for barbecues and dinners, showing up wherever they were needed. Janet served as Communion Steward for over 35 years and was a cherished member of the Women’s Circle Prayer Group. Janet additionally participated in the Order of the Eastern Star.

At home, Janet filled her world with creatures she loved — Sheepdogs, a spirited Jack Russell Terrier named Penny, and a cheerful cockatiel named Molly. Cardinals held a special place in her heart; since she couldn’t keep them as pets, she brought them indoors through figurines and decorations that brightened every corner. Her garden was her sanctuary and her roses a particular pride — though out of love for Walter and his allergies, she kept only silk ones inside. That small, sweet compromise says everything about the woman she was. On quiet afternoons you’d find her cheering on the Phillies or settled into The Young and the Restless, often with family close by.

She is survived by her husband Walter; her children Deborah Hume (husband Douglas) and Carl Pregenzer; her grandchildren Jennifer Wendt (husband Karl), Rebecca Hume, and Michael Hume (wife Tiffany); her great-grandchildren Eliora, Anneliese, and Addison; and her nieces and nephews Richard, Kimberly, Tracy, and Jeffrey. She was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Fosburg.

Janet will be remembered as the keeper of order, the heart of the household, and the quiet force that held everyone together. She is deeply, dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. and funeral service at 9:30 A.M. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Road, Ivyland, PA 18974. Her graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 West County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.

Religious services will be conducted by Rev. Bradley Leight

Mrs. Ruth Portzline, CLM from St. John’s United Methodist Church.
