John P. "Jack" Stevens III of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania died Monday, March 30, 2026 at Jefferson Abington Hospital. He was 83 years old. Jack was born September 14, 1942 in San Francisco, California, son of the late John P. Stevens Jr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Stevens (nee - Georgia). He is the beloved husband of Reiko (nee Haraguchi) Stevens; father of John M. and his wife Maria Stevens, Elizabeth Stevens; grandfather of Ian M. and his wife Megan Stevens, Anarah Stevens and Jazmine A. Stevens. Brother of Scudder and his wife Mary Claire Stevens and Peter Stevens.
John graduated from Youngstown University in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Following graduation, he embarked on a distinguished 26-year career with the United States Air Force. Serving from 1964 until 1982, he achieved the rank of E-6 Technical Sergeant. His assignments took him across the globe, including stations at Chanute AFB, Griffiths AFB, Yokota AFB, and various posts in Saudi Arabia, Okinawa, the Philippines, South Korea, Germany, France, and Great Britain.
John worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1983 until he retired with 20 years of service with the state.
Over the years John lived in Chanute AFB, Griffiths AFB, Yokota AFB, Novato, CA, many duty assignments across the globe including Saudi Arabia, Okinawa, Philippines, South Korea, Germany, France, and Great Britain.
John was deeply involved in his community and heritage:
• Abington Presbyterian Church: A devoted member who took great joy in worshipping with the congregation and served as a deacon while in good health. And a former member of Willow Grove Presbyterian Church for many years.
• Masons: An active member of W.K. Bray - Southampton Masonic Lodge #410
• Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution: He was a proud member of the Society, honoring his ancestral legacy.
• Officer of the Scudder Association
• Amateur Radio: A passionate HAM radio enthusiast, known to many by his call sign, WB3BHE.
He loved traveling. His destinations included: many of the continental us states Europe Asia and the Middle East. He also loved his time with family vacationing with his son and daughter in law at their home in Ventnor, NJ. In his youth, he enjoyed summering in LaPorte, PA with his family.
He will be missed by his loving wife Reiko and family, his fellows at church and friends. His true heart of service, loyal and kind soul have made an impact throughout his lifetime in all of us that had the privilege of knowing such a good man.
Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and funeral service at 12:30 P.M. at Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001. His graveside service followed and masonic service on Monday, April 13, 2026 and military honors rendered by the United States Air Force will be at 2:30 P.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Judy Dwyer from Abington Presbyterian Church.
