Norman B. Yanke of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Monday, April 6, 2026 at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. He was 90 years old. Norman was born March 17, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Bernard Yanke and the late Nettie O. Yanke (nee - Hafemann). He is the beloved husband of the late Carole B. Yanke; father of Norman Yanke, and his wife, Rose, and Carolyn Cavanaugh, and her husband, Kevin; grandfather of Megan, Nicole, Jon, Madison, Lauren, Rachel, Emmalee, Kimberlee, and Gabby; great-grandfather of Bella, Sophia, Vinny, and Julianna. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his sister Ruth.

Norman and Carole met in 1954 after having moved into the Frankford section of Philadelphia. The two were smitten and married in 1958 in The Presbyterian Church of Frankford, happily sharing the next 57 years together. Later, the family would move into the Juniata section of Philadelphia where they would stay for for 35 years before finally setting in the Somerton area.

He worked as a mechanic for over 40 years, including Father Judge High School maintaining their fleet of vehicles and also the city of Philadelphia as a fleet mechanic for the city’s Fire and Rescue squad.

Norman enjoyed spending time on his boat, watching NASCAR, and attending the annual Atlantic City Classic Car Show.

Norman loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service followed and military honors rendered by the United States Army will be at 12:30 P.M. at Doylestown Cemetery, 215 East Court Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Oblates of Saint Francis DeSales Development Office PO Box 87, Childs, MD 21916-0087 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
