The following was composed by Norma’s family:
Norma Hornak (nee Neel), daughter of Robert B. Neel and Blanche Neel, (nee Albus) grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Presentation Academy. She met the love of her life, Andy Hornak in 1953 at a dance while he was serving in the Army at Fort Knox. They were married from1955 until Andy’s death in 2021. Yes, 66 years!
After raising their family, Norma used her organizational talents to manage medical practices for many years, first at Parkview Hospital, and later a neurology practice at Jeans hospital. Norma’s greatest gift was hospitality. She loved hosting large holiday meals for family and guests. She also hosted many overnight or weekend guests and then went on to host international students in the summers, missionaries who were on leave from their international calling, and college students who were in between housing arrangements.
Norma and Andy allowed numerous families and friends to live with them for extended periods of time. She humorously referred to their home as “The Normandy Inn”. Norma loved Jesus! She was a long-time member of Berachah Church in Cheltenham where she sang in the choir, and then Chelten, a Church of Hope in Dresher, where she was engaged in the Women’s Tapestry Ministries. She had many friends from church and too many friends to count at Ann’s Choice Senior Living of Warminster.
She is survived by her children, Edward Hornak (Joan), Janice Miller (Mike), and Kenneth Hornak, (Donna Marie), seven grandchildren, Natalie Metzger, Andrew E. Hornak, Michael Miller Jr., Kara Cota, Amanda Mizdail, Robert Hornak and Nadia Hornak and ten great-grandchildren. She was blessed and delighted when dear friends Tom and Tadako Gallione became part of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Mercy Ships, P.O. Box 1930, Garden Valley, Texas 75771.
