The following was written by Salvador’s family.
Salvador “Badong” or “Buddy” Salengua Pisawis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbor, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the age of 88 and surrounded by his loved ones. Born on July 20, 1938 in the Philippines, Salvador leaves behind a legacy of gentleness, love, and devotion to family, faith, and music.
Salvador was born to Amparo and Aquillino Pisawis in 1938, during a time of war and occupation in the Philippines. A child of World War II, he and his siblings lost both parents at a young age and were taken in as orphans by his father’s best friend, the Peduche Family. As a child, Salvador worked as a newspaper boy and then later as a bartender and taxi driver in the city of Manila. He met his wife, Emma, at a dance party in Manila where they fell in love. Shortly after, they married and had six children. To support his growing family, Salvador worked at the French Embassy in Manila as a private chauffeur to the Consul.
In 2002, Salvador and Emma immigrated to the United States to be with family, where he lived and remained until the time of his passing. A proud Philadelphia Eagles fan, he was happy to have witnessed two Super Bowls in his lifetime.
Affectionately known as "Lolo Buddy" by his family, he will be remembered for his signature sunglasses, timeless sense of style, warm and likeable personality, and classic sense of humor. He loved to sing and was often the first to grab the karaoke microphone, delighting family and friends with his favorite songs and bringing joy to gatherings both big and small.
Salvador is survived by Guillerma “Emma,” his wife of 60 years, his older sister Antonia, and his four living children and their spouses, Rosendo (Rexie) Pisawis, Imelda (Emmanuel) De Ramos, Jenifer (Johann) Guevara, and Marjorie (Jeremy) Muzada. He was a proud grandfather to all his grandchildren, Camille (Franz), Isabel, Nadya, Cristelle, Daniel, Dominque “Nikko,” Stephanie, David, AJ, and Jerina – as well as a great-grandfather to Joaquin, Elijah, Gerald, and Bree.
Salvador is predeceased by his brother Mario and sons Cristobal and Dominador. He was also blessed with a wide circle of friends whose companionship and friendship enriched his life and brought him great happiness, particularly Noel Tagulinao and Manong Cecilio.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, August 8 at St. James Catholic Church in Elkins Park, PA. The viewing will take place from 9 – 11 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am.
Flowers can be donated to the church for the service. The family is grateful for your prayers, love, and support.
